The Rain Forest
The main topic of our cross-curricular project is “The Rain Forest“. While teaching children what a rain forest is, where they are located and some of the typical animals that live there, learners also learn/review vocabulary and question-answer structures to talk about those matters in English.
The project is structured in pre-while-post-tasks. The pre-task is the introduction phase, in which vocabulary and question-answer structures are introduced. Pictures are presented to them, there are sounds of animals they can listen to and also some games they can play with each other.
The while-task is realized through station work, in which a first controlled practice is provided. The children get different sheets which deal with different traits of the rain forest.

The post-task is the creation of a poster in expert groups. Using an “Animal Profile Sheet” the children are able to collect much information about one specific animal. In this phase learners have the opportunity of working independently and use the things learned.
